Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

Introduction

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is a terpolymer and one of the most widely used thermoplastics at Innovative Laminations and in the industry.   Advantages of ABS include toughness even at low temperatures, impact resistance, hardness, gloss, ease of processing/versatility and can be recycled.  ABS is stronger than pure polystyrene, but will break down when exposed to UV light.  The fabrication properties of our decorative ABS remain very similar to non-decorative ABS.  Innovative Laminations has many stock ABS options to offer in gauges ranging from .010" to .250".  We can produce any sheet size requested in minimal quantities from in-house stock up to 49"x97".  Custom sizes up to 60" wide, gauges up to .500" and colors available upon request.

  • Heavy Truck, Golf Cart & RV components
  • Protective carrying cases
  • Household and consumer goods

Features & Benefits

  • Toughness even at low temperatures
  • Impact resistant
  • Hardness
  • Gloss
  • Ease of processing and versatility
  • Stronger than pure polystyrene
  • Recyclable

Acrylic

Introduction

Innovative Laminations offers decorative products with Impact Modified Acrylic, Extruded Acrylic and Cast Acrylic cores.  Acrylic is an economical alternative to Polycarbonate when extreme strength is not necessary, providing easy handling and processing, excellent laser-ability, exterior weather-ability and low cost in comparison to some other plastics.  Non-modified Acrylic can be brittle when under load or an impact force, but both of these behaviors are improved when utilizing an impact modified acrylic. Impact Modified is much stronger than general purpose acrylic.

We stock acrylic in a variety of formulations, colors and gauges ranging from .006 to .220.  Custom sizes, colors and gauges available upon request.

Popular Applications

  • Signage
  • Point of Purchase Displays
  • Marine Accessories
  • Backlighting

Features & Benefits

  • Economical alternative to Polycarbonate when extreme strength is not necessary
  • Easy handling and processing
  • Excellent laser-ability
  • Exterior weather-ability
  • Impact Modified Acrylic is much stronger than general purpose acrylics

HIPS

Introduction

High Impact Polystyrene is a regularly stocked and used thermoplastic for a variety of decorative applications at Innovative Laminations.  Ease of processing and fabricating HIPS in combination with its flexibility and economic advantage make it an often specified plastic for low strength applications where impact resistance, machinability, and low cost are required. Decorative HIPS is used for flat fabrication, thermoforming and print applications.

Innovative Laminations stocks .007" to .040" HIPS and manufactures decorative HIPS in sheets or rolls at widths up to 50" wide.  Custom sizes, colors and gauges available upon request.

Popular Applications

  • Point of Purchase Displays
  • Packaging
  • Appliances
  • Architectural

Features & Benefits

  • Low Cost
  • East of Processing and Versatility
  • Flexibility

Polycarbonate

Introduction

Polycarbonate (PC) plastics are a naturally transparent thermoplastic. Polycarbonates are used to produce a variety of materials and are particularly useful when impact resistance and high durability are required.  Unlike most thermoplastics, Polycarbonate can undergo many distortions without cracking or breaking. Trademarked names include Lexan and Makrolon.

Innovative Laminations can provide decorative polycarbonate products in a multitude of gauges and sizes for a variety of applications.  Custom sizes and gauges available upon request.

Popular Applications

  • Exterior Components for Marine, Heavy Truck, RV
  • Automotive Components
  • Exterior Backlighting
  • Exterior Signage

Features & Benefits

  • Excellent Heat Resistance
  • Strength
  • Superior Impact Resistance
  • Highly Durable
  • Outstanding Optical Properties

PETG

Introduction

PETG is a clear Polyester transparent sheet made from Thermoplastic co-polyester. PETG is of the same chemical composition as PET but with the addition of glycol.  Benefits include outstanding thermoforming properties, extreme clarity and light transmission in combination with a high gloss surface finish, good impact resistance at low temperatures and it is approved for food contact applications.

Innovative Laminations can provide decorative polycarbonate products in a multitude of gauges and sizes for a variety of applications.  Custom sizes and gauges available upon request.

Popular Applications

  • Point of Sale
  • Signage
  • Gaming
  • Second Surface

Features & Benefits

  • Excellent Thermoformability, no pre-drying required
  • Food Contact Approved
  • Good Impact Resistance
  • High Clarity

PET

Introduction

Polyethylene Terephthalate, known commonly as PET is best known as the clear plastic used for water and soda bottle containers.  Innovative Laminations stocks .004" and .007" Clear PET up to 50" wide.  At these gauges it is flexible and advantageous for applications requiring an extremely smooth surface, thin gauge material, and material that can be fabricated in a curve, wrapped or curled around cylindrical shapes.

Innovative Lamination manufactures decorative products on PET at custom sheet sizes, widths and roll lengths.

Popular Applications

  • Point of Purchase Displays
  • Retail Store Front Design
  • Profile Wrapping
  • Labeling
  • Digital & Screen Printing

Features & Benefits

  • Flexible
  • Printable
  • Excellent Surface Quality for Metallics and other reflective looks

Expanded PVC

Introduction

Expanded PVC is a lightweight, yet rigid, expanded foam polyvinyl chloride. It is appreciated for its light weight and versatility for Point of Purchase and retail design and signage.  Available in a wide variety of colors, expanded PVC can be sawed, drilled, bent, and fabricated using ordinary tools.  While it is an excellent light weight choice, it must be handled with extreme care in decorative plastic applications with highly reflective or metallic patterns that highlight dents or imperfections given it can dent easily if not handled properly.

Innovative Laminations manufactures decorative products on Expanded PVC at custom sheet sizes in a variety of colors and patterns.
